So What Is A
Soccer Scholarship?A soccer scholarship is a financial offering that coaches & universities offer to players they wish to join their team/university. Much like professional teams here in the UK each coach/team/university will have a set specific budget they are allocated to use on bringing in new players.
The money is not paid directly to the player. Instead it’s used to pay for: tuition, accommodation, books and other expenses that students will need to cover throughout their time at university. The amount a player receives is dependent on what a coach can offer and the ability of the player, academically and on the pitch. Students will typically be expected to contribute to some degree, as 100% scholarships (Full Rides) are not common. With that said, A huge number of players end up paying substantially lower costs than a student studying in the UK as well as graduating without the notorious student debt.
If you are currently playing at a high level and you have a minimum of 5 A-C GCSE’s, you have a strong chance that our network of coaches would like you to join their team. It should be noted that if you have not attended or completed a higher education level qualification including A-levels or B-Tech diplomas there will still be available opportunities but you will not meet the academic criteria of some institutions. That is why we emphasize strongly on both academics & athletics!
Sports in the American college system are taken very seriously and are constructed in a way that makes them a stepping-stone for elite athletes into the professional world. Therefore, players attending a college, have the ability to play and train like a professional while utilizing top level facilities. At the top end this is matched with big crowds, and the chance to travel across the country to play other teams & see places the average tourist will never. If this doesn’t sound good enough, players gain a valuable 4 year bachelor degree in their chosen field of study that drastically improves employment chances upon graduation. This is especially prevalent when in comparison to the average student attending a UK based university. Some players after graduating still want to pursue professional aspirations. For those displaying elite talent throughout their college careers, professional opportunities will be available upon graduation both in the U.S and abroad.
